November's meeting!

We were treated to a view of the past by Kelly Hill, Historical Costumer and Craft Coordinator at Kings Landing. Kelly brought us 5 quilts and several blocks to view and gave a short history of each. She explained that these quilts are kept in a dark climate controlled room, on tubes of acid free paper. Her presentation was followed by our monthly Show & Tell.

The five quilts from King's Landing

Our presenter, Kelly Hill, giving us an overview of each quilt. She brought these particular quilts as they reflected a record of what people wore.

This quilt has been dated about 1930 and came from Upper Gagetown

Circa 1890

Log Cabin - circa 1890 It is brighter than the previous quilt and has little to no batting.

Snowball and 9 patch - circa 1870-1920. It was made from a mix of fabrics including upholstery fabric

9 Patch - circa 1910-20. Some blocks within the 9 patch are sewn of different pieces of the same fabric.

Mrs. Allen of Pokiok - circa 1830-40. The dyes of the time have eaten trough some of the fabrics

Kathy brought us her happy Halloween runner. Love the colours.

Kathy also brought us her eye catching Halloween lap quilt of pumpkins and crows. Quilted by Janet S.

Doris K. brought us an antique quilt made by her husband's grandmother and explained it's 66 years old and well loved.
