   September's Meeting

Our first meeting last night drew a good crowd and lots of interesting quilts and artwork to share. As always the talent in our group is fantastic and diverse. Hope to see all our members in October with even more wonderful work to view.

June G.'s black, red and white quilt. She had been given the black and white fabrics and went on a creative adventure from there.

Allison H. made this quilt for her sister to give to a close friend as a thank-you. Alison, you're a great sister.

Betty V. expanded her artistic talents this summer using ink pencils. What lovely work first in flowers and followed by scenes.  She used ink pencils, fabric, yarn and free motion quilted.

Showing Betty's process

Peggy H. and Beryl S. showed us lots and lots of pot holders. These are to be sold and the proceeds passed to a school in Kenya they are sponsoring. The potholders have a layer of towel and batting sandwiched in fabrics.

Bags made for the graduating students

Christine B.'s love of Kaffe Fassett fabrics shows in her gorgeous quilt. The pattern is similar to Delectable Mountains. Quilted by Penny B.

Wendy G. brought us Snow Drops and Diamonds. All English paper pieced and hexies done by hand. Over 2000 hexies. Quilted by Penny G.

Lucille P.'s Meadow View kit. This lovely quilt was quilted by Lucille using free motion and ruler work

Bertha M. always has something wonderful to show us and this time it's her Mystery Quilt - soon to be a gift for her sister in Ottawa.

Bertha's table topper - lovely colours

Cecile G. rescued this hand embroidered quilt top at a yard sale. It's the provincial flowers of Canada. She spent 40 hours completing a section of the embroidery and hopes to have it quilted for a donation quilt

Cecile also brought more embroidery - porch theme. This one was quilted by Joyce N.

Joyce N.'s Squiggles shows how Joyce has mastered the string quilt in colour wash.  Following is her backing.

Joyce received two books of sample Liberty fabrics from Australia and her creativity took off.

Joyce N.'s Postcard Quilt - so nostalgic of times gone - includes the backs of post cards with their messages. Many different techniques were used to complete her quilt including her colour wash border.
