ECQG Quilt Show...Big SUCCESS!

   The Elm City Quilt Guild Show was on November 7,8th in Fredericton at the Gibson Memorial United Church.  It was held in conjunction with Grandmothers Helping Grandmothers, and was by all reports a grand SHOW.

   I have a variety of pictures that I want to share.  I received photos from several people who knew that I was unable to go (for health reasons), so, without their permission, I will show you most of them  If anyone out there wants me to add any, please feel free to send them to me!

    Thanks to everyone...almost like being there!  Browsing the gorgeous quilts and decorations without the benefit of names and stories is unfortunate, but I know some and not all names, so I have just posted the photos.  Feast your eyes on this EYE CANDY post!

ECQG QUILT SHOW!!

Lets all register our quilts, and let us all attend.  What fun it will be to see all of our quilts in one place, set up artfully on the pews of Gibson Street Memorial Church!

Elm City Quilters’ Guild will be partnering with Grandmothers Helping Grandmothers in presenting our fall quilt show “Grandmothers’ Quilts Then and Now”.

        Gibson Street Memorial Church, 

        183 Gibson Street, Fredericton, NB 

        Friday, Nov 7, 10:00-6:00

        Saturday, Nov 8, 10:00-4:00

Our beautiful new and antique quilts will be displayed over the pews as well as in the community room.

Refreshments will be served. Our local quilting vendors will be on site with their exciting line of fall fabrics and notions.

        

Label Suggestion!

    Over the summer a suggestion came in from Peggy Holt on how to line a label for the back of your quilt.  Interestingly I use the same method slightly modified, so I will walk you through it in 3 easy steps.

   

  1. First, sew a dryer sheet to the right side of your label and then cut a hole large enough to turn right side out.  I use fragrance free dryer sheets...

 2. Then turn right side out through the hole.  The hole may stretch, but this is just fine.

3.  Flatten and use your tools to make the corners right-angled.

  I most often sew my labels into the binding of my quilts, therefore I can do the above method sewing one side and the top, turn right side out and no need to finish the other two edges as they will be inside the binding!  Easier still.

  A new Blogger has been found and Helen MacKinnon, a brand new ECQG member will be taking over the writing of the blog.
