Our last meeting of our 2022-23 guild year! A wonderful table of snacks were provided, followed by an awesome show and tell of summery items and recently finished projects by our very talented members. Happy quilting this summer and I'm looking forward to a large show and tell in September.

Three of the mini retreat project are complete. Lynne, June and Bertha are the keeners of the group and are ready for Halloween

Jolande G-C made this lovely quilt in so soft summery colours.  Following is the back of Jolande's quilt where she used her leftover blocks.

Christine P. quilted this pretty project as a favour to a friend. The friend's grandmother hand pieced the top and Christine quilted it as a gift for the granddaughter. So nice to see the quilt rescued and completed.

Jackie F. made this rag quilt for her granddaughter's high school graduation in the school colours. Jackie said she has made each grandchild a quilt in their school colours for graduation.

Jackie had leftovers that she wasn't going let go to waste so table toppers it is.

June G. hasn't let us down - she's back with this scrappy Garden Pathways. Absolutely lovely, June.

Gwenda M. had her hands in motion this past winter and brought with three more quilts this month. First is her scrappy snowballs.

Gwenda's second quilt is this beauty from a line of Moda fabrics.

and Gwenda's third large quilt this month is this bright and happy polka dot quilt. Wow, a lot of creativity at Gwenda's house this past winter.

Allison H.'s quilts are always so creative, including this batik quilt with appliqued sunflowers that will soon be a wedding present.

Allison also shared a little bit of summer with her Sand in Your Toes wall hanging

Allison is also almost finished this very sweet ballerina quilt that the little girl receiving is bound to love.

Betty V. is full of creativity and this project doesn't disappoint. She created this beauty from photos taken on a trip to PEI. The 12 x 12 square are machine quilted and the borders are hand quilted.

Pat P.'s batik quilt came about from consultation with her sister. The blocks really pop with the lighter backgrounds.

Pat also brought her beautiful blue house quilt. Love the applique work that Pat said took a long time to complete.

We are working backwards on this one. This is the back of Diane B.'s quilt, and now.....

for the front of Diane's quilt - a Stack and Whack. Love the idea of mixing the blocks with squares to make it larger.

Theresa G. showed this quilt that was started by our late member Pauline Davis and completed by Theresa and her sisters. It was a Mystery Quilt pattern presented by our guild. Lovely work.

Bertha M. made a smaller quilt - can you believe it? This is a Thimbleberries pattern. Very pretty.

Bertha also brought us her heart runner which is hand quilted, and...

she brought us a wonderful tote bag.

Cecile G. brought us her hand pieced and hand quilted hexie quilt. A lot of work resulting in a beautiful quilt.

Connie F. showed us her Canada quilts and noted that the churn dash block is a great way to set off a panel.

This lovely leaf quilt is another of Connie's showing how she sets off her panels.

Marg. R. received fabric from Ghana as a gift from her daughter. Marg put on her thinking cap and designed this golf cart seat cover. She will have the prettiest cart on the course.

Janet S. couldn't overcome her shy streak last night (yes, Janet LOL) so received a sisterly rescue from Dorothy. We all know aquas and teals are Janet's thing and she didn't disappoint with these gorgeous placemats and table runner.

MAY BRINGS FLOWERS AND MORE WONDERFUL PROJECTS!

This month we had a visit by former guild member Tammy MacKinnon. Tammy gave us the history of ribbon skirts and shared some indigenous history. It was all very informative and interesting. Tammy is making and selling ribbon skirts and brought along several samples. She has also been very creative in the skirts she makes by printing her own patterns directly onto the skirt fabric. She has also designed pants that are also trimmed with ribbons similar to the skirts.

SHOW AND TELL

Christine P. started us off with her spring tulips wall hanging, followed by her Stack n Whack. Christine's Stack n Whack is the first one shown since our class with Cecile.

Betty V. has been very busy. First up is a future gift upon completion followed by a sweet baby quilt using a similar pattern.

Betty then gave us a demonstration worthy of a runway of her new shawl that she created for reading in bed. All of Betty's projects are hand quilted.

Next up is Donna C.'s trees that she has made for her daughter. Beautiful!

Janet M. had three projects for us tonight. First up is her Villa Madonna Retreat project which is hand quilted.

Janet also made this wonderful little village in batiks. The pattern is Home Town

Janet's last project is this heart warming baby quilt in which she designed the giraffe herself - such talent.

 

June G. brought her Piecing Healing quilt. A lot of work June, but it was worth it.

The next 3 beauties started out the same but..... June didn't like hers so took it apart and laid it out in a pattern called Sunshine & Shadows.  The second one is Connie F.'s - Connie used a lot of scraps and bordered it in beige, red and black.  The third one belongs to Connie's friend and former member, Esther, who made hers in a controlled group of fabrics. All give a very different effect.

Connie F. also used scraps to make her Potato Chip Block quilt. Connie's talents include completing her quilts on her longarm.

A Reversed Pineapple quilt by Diane K. This quilt is hand quilted. Very pretty colours,

We know Joyce N. is a gifted artist and these next two quilts show she has found two more innovative ways to use fabric. First is her black vs white strip quilt where is used green bias tape to cut her block into a Drunkard's Path.

Joyce's Asian inspired wall hanging. She incorporated ladies in panels, ladies from printed pieces and ladies she fussy cut and appliqued. She also machine quilted this hanging. Joyce calls this piece Three Little Maids
