CHRISTMAS AT THE ELM CITY QUILTERS GUILD IN FREDERICTON, NB

Christmas dinner was fantastic - as it always has been with the Gibson Memorial group at the helm. A wonderful evening that not only included a great dinner but fun games and some beautiful Show & Tell to share. A shout out to our Programs Committee gals for giving us such a festive and enjoyable evening.

Cecile G. brought us two quilts tonight. The first is her log cabin/moose quilt with African print backing. Love how the log cabins surround the moose.

Cecile's second quilt has gone to the hens and will be a gift for a family members who loves them.  The backing photo follows.

Marie D. made lots of Christmas runners using us her scraps and pieces of blocks. Love the little pinwheel one that was a byproduct of a larger quilt.

Marie's table topper. She was inspired by a fellow member to give it a go.

June G. is always creating - this one is a cute snowman topper for her daughter

Alison created this beauty as a gift, inspired by a friendship of her sister's. Note the smoke linking the houses.

Dorothy J. made this pink and navy quilt for a young lady who loves those colours. A pink fireside backing makes it extra cozy. She is sure to love it.

Diane B brought us last year's mystery quilt - now completed. It's beautiful!

Bertha is like June - she never stops sewing. This time it's a sweet alphabet quilt that will allow one great grandson to help his younger brother learn his letters.

Bertha also make this pretty tree skirt for her daughter.

Christine B. brought us her favourite Christmas quilt from an Art to Heart book. So cute!

Joyce N. says she has only one Christmas quilt and this is it. Joyce's colour wash technique always makes her quilts so unique. It's fun to just look and see what fabrics she's included.

From the Elm City Quilters Guild in Fredericton, N.B. - our November Program and Show & Tell

Darcy Hunter put on a wonderful show for us last night at our monthly meeting. She filled us in on how she got to where she is and how she's proceeding forward - an interesting story that's a long way from the end for such a talented artist. She brought lots of samples and lots of goodies for purchase.

I've included some pictures of Darcy's show followed by our Show and Tell.

Darcy is participating in "Making Zen" - a group of 20 teachers giving free courses
 from November 18-22

A close-up of one of Darcy's larger pieces showing the inclusion of buttons, wool and thread painting in her piece.

One of Darcy's kits.

OUR SHOW & TELL

Peggy H.'s gift for her niece's wedding. Her own design from gifted pieces. So creative

Janet M. had blocks for a project she didn't want to complete so she used them in her runner, and in a bag below. Great ideas Janet. Too pretty to waste the blocks.

Janet M. completed this lovely quilt as well.

Lyn F. shared her gorgeous "Mystery Quilt" from last year and would like to see more Mystery finishes. The challenge is out there now - bring them on ladies.

Donna C. shared her "not my favorite quilt" that is going to Australia to her grandson's girlfriend. A wonderful gift sure to appreciated.

Bonnie B. wanted to make a log cabin - so she did. Liked the process so much, she thinks she'll do another. Awesome job.

Marg R., has a sweet wall hanging all ready to go for her granddaughter.

More travelling fabrics - these came from Singapore. Marg brought us her colourful table runner

Joyce N. is on a creative streak again - this time with her own design of flowers made from hexies.

Tangle is a quilt being donated by Elaine S. to the Muriel McQueen Ferguson Foundation for their auction.

Janet S. brought us her charity quilts. First up, a masculine looking quilt of stripes and blocks

Janet also brought us the whole farm with this quilt.  Below is her backing

Cecile G. had a panel she dressed up for her granddaughter with lots of birdhouses and log cabins.  Below is her quilt's backing

Joan B. told us she had 5 of these panels but had a change of plan with her quilt. Rather than using the rest of the panels for all her surrounding blocks, she included aquas to brighten the quilt - good thinking, Joan, it worked wonderfully.
