ELM CITY QUILTERS GUILD, FREDERICTON, N.B.
November is a wonderful time to snuggle down in all those quilts we've created. This month's meeting included very informative stations set up around the hall - all kinds of different bindings, labels and sleeves for our spring quilt show. Following is our Show & Tell for the month - a real show of talent!
June G. joined the Guild in 2002 and this is the first quilt made with the group. June was impressed with the generosity and friendliness of the Guild members.
Marg R. joined in 2002. She brought us her first workshop piece - a bargello created from a course with Connie F.
Donna C. brought us two wall hangings and an apron of which she has made many for Christmas. Below is a closeup of one of Donna's wall hangings.
Peggy H. presented a wedge quilt that she made from a World War II pattern. She told us many were sent overseas for soldiers.
Peggy also brought back her scrap quilt as encouragement for new quilters. She didn't like the purple fabric until she cut it all up and incorporated it into this bright happy quilt.
Claire B. also joined in 2002. She brought us one her first quilts in which she used almost every square inch of her fabric to complete it.
Dora M. joined the Guild in 2004 when Claire signed her up without Dora knowing it. Dora presented her hand quilted scrap quilt from a fabric exchange early in Dora's Guild days.
Janet S. has found awesome ways to use scraps. Above was made from scraps from Janet's earlier Laurie Holt quilts and the following two from Thimbleberries fabrics. Jennie Sauve quilted all three.
Dorothy J. joined the Guild in the 2000-2005 period. She brought us her recently finished 9 patch quilt and below is her Stack n Whack. Dorothy quilted these herself.
Jennie S. has modern placemats and a runner. Great colours She quilted them herself.
Lyn F.'s daughter has laid claim to her brightly coloured cat quilt featuring the 3 family cats.
Christine B. presented her award winning quilt from this September's Frex. It's hand sewn English paper piecing and quilted by Jennie Sauve.
A house quilt by June G. June showed her creativity and replaced a flag block (not Canadian) with another to suit the quilt.
Gretchen J. created a beautiful blue Irish Chain. Quilted by Jennie Sauve.
Anitra G. showed us some real colour with her quilt above. Anitra mentioned she loved being by water as she showed us her coastal inspired quilt.
Bonnie B. made 3 baby quilts using 3 different patterns. Quilted by Connie F.
Sanctuary - Bonnie B.'s quilt. The picture doesn't do the colours justice. Quilted by Connie F.
Chickadee - Kate T. created an original art piece from a flawed piece of fabric. Awesome!
