ELM CITY QUILTERS GUILD, FREDERICTON, N.B.
April's meeting had some great ideas for using your stash to its limit and a wonderful show and tell. Joanne G, Liz R and Joyce N. - three very creative people spoke about quilters' effect on the earth and how we can minimize our footprint by maximizing how we use our fabrics right down to the tiniest pieces.
Our raffle quilt is completed and ready for ticket sales!
Part of the evening's program included Joyce's hexi wall hanging made from fabric samples
Utilizing orphan blocks in projects
Joanne's crumb blocks and purse from recycled jeans
Joyce used left over triangle flippy corners to make blocks
Liz R. made a bag from salvages.
And now for Show & Tell
Bertha M. joined Elm City about 1997 and this is her first quilt. Quilted by Janet S.
Cecile G. joined in 1995 and brought her bear quilt and sang us the Bear Skip Rope song
Cecile also brought her very summery Sunflowers & Birds quilt. A block exchange was part of the creation.
The back of Cecile's quilt
Dianne B. brought us back to winter with her sampler quilt that she made from a photo - no pattern.
Liz R. participated in the same block exchange as Cecile and Elaine to create this lovely.
June G. finished her Workday project in beautiful soft peach.
Susan M. finished a project she started a long, long time ago. It's hand appliqued, machine appliqued, pieced and now finished!
Kate T. demonstrated how to use your really small pieces in blocks. She hand quilted herself. Following is the back of Kate's quilt and a close up of some very small blocks.
Joyce showed her new rotary cutter cover she completed at the retreat.
They're not fabric but they are quilt blocks - painted by Esther B & Bonnie B. from recent classes taken.
