ECQG Show and Tell-May 2013 Meeting

These quilt photos were worth the wait (a little cyber glitch held these pics back a bit), but enjoy the demonstration of talent below!

That is all for this month everyone.  I hope that you saw the other 3 posts for MAY!

ECQG and The IWK Grace Part 2

Following Janica and her Mom Rachel's presentations to our group, the Representative from the IWK Health Center, Janet Foley was introduced to our group.
Janet , a Social Worker and Manager of Volunteer Resources at the IWKHealth Centre gave us an overview an description of where and to whom our quilts might go.

Janet is a talented speaker, who had us laughing and crying within a space of a few minutes, and although I cannot give away any of her more personal antidotes, we know that she will have an office soft with ECQG quilts for a time.  Interestingly we were told that baby quilts are donated frequently, as are young child quilts, but quilts appropriate for teenagers are not so plentiful.

The team met to drape the 74 quilts over the Gibson Memorial Church pews before the meeting and it was an awe inspiring task!  The colours, patterns, vividness of each and every quilt resulted in a lovely demonstration of our commitment to the Guild.  See the differences yourselves in these photos:

No two are the same...

There were YUMMY treats (from our ECQG Cookbook) for our guests and guild members made by our Program Committee members to munch on while the oohing and awwing went on upstairs in the Church...

Linda Boudreau was in early setting up and making punch discussing the quilts with Elaine Mayo (who quietly works and infiltrates behind the scene, thanks Elaine) !

It was a rewarding evening for all who participated, and my/our congratulations to Joan Baldwin and her team.

Once the presentations were finished, the Guild members and IWK group headed upstairs to the Church proper to view the quilts.  Following,  are some "crowd" photos and pictures of our Guests with the donations.  I received photos from Kathy O'Connell, Marj Deveau and Sandra Noftell and are mixed in with my own.  Thanks to you all.

Admiring...

As the people filtered out following the walk through and the admiring ended, the quilts were then all packed and Janet will take them to Halifax with her. They will be distributed to patients within the hospital, and most likely will have homes within a month.  There is a genuine need for quilts.

A job well done ECQG!

Quiltingly yours,
