Thursday 2 March 2023

Starting off March with a bang - a large show and tell of completed and almost completed projects.

Our evening started with a wonderful presentation by fellow guild member, Liz Richard, on "Days for Girls". This project provides reusable menstural products for girls in need around the world. "Day for Girls" is in reference to girls who must miss school during their periods due to a lack of products available to them. Liz is NB's co-chair.

The show and tell this month includes a diverse range of projects. Our group's talent and creativity drew many ooohs and aaaws

Liz explaining all the components of a "Days for Girls" kit. A wonderful far reaching project.

Connie F.'s rail fence.  Although Connie loves her country colours, she's showing us some brights this month.

Connie F.'s quilt of many gifts. She has made several of this pattern.

Connie F.'s raw edge appliqued flowers - very pretty

Connie F.'s lucky Irish leprechauns just in time for St. Patrick's

June G's "All Stacked Up" is now complete. Following is the back of June's quilt

Jackie T.'s Christmas runner - all ready for next year

And Jackie's placemats

Jackie T.'s Christmas napkins

Diane K's Circle quilt - a gift for a family member

Diane K's block of the month quilt.   Courthouse Steps around a variety of blocks

The Villa Madonna Retreat included this kit for a table topper in Kaffe Fassett fabrics. Diane K., Catherine C. and Christine B. have theirs sewn together.

Claire B.'s Valentine's Heart pillow. Claire won the name tag draw in February that included heart fabrics for this project.

Allison A.'s "Modern Snowflake" done with scrappy blocks, followed by......

Angela W's "Modern Snowflake" done with a plain block background.  The back of Angela's quilt follows this picture.

Bertha M's "Triple Irish Chain". I think Bertha subscribes to the thought "go big or go home" Small projects just don't seem to be her thing.

Betty V. told us she throws all her little pieces into a bucket as she sews. She then makes neat little projects like the one above and following. She appliques and embroiders her little blocks into place.

Betty V.'s table topper from little pieces.

Betty V.'s stars - these stars are hand appliqued onto the blocks and the whole quilt is beautifully hand quilted.

Christine B.'s favorite pattern "Lucky Stars". Christine likes this pattern as the star points do not touch the sides of the block.

Christine B.'s lovely ombre log cabins made from fat quarters.

The back of Christine's ombre quilt

Donna C.s table runner from Wine Country fabrics.

Liz R.'s paper pieced beauty "Cranes over Haroshima"

Cecile G's "Attic Treasure" from hundreds of small squares

Pat K's "One Block Wonder" is a real eye catcher

Joyce N's colour washed maize - a gift for an upcoming wedding.

Gloria P. started with a sailboat panel and just kept working outward.
