With Christmas coming and lists and lists and lists - I forgot to post the few pictures I took at our December dinner. Our silent auction had lots of interesting, eye catching items that gathered lots of attention.

The auction table had lots of attention!

And yes, there was dessert!

The hard working crew of Gibson United Church zoomed in and out of the kitchen delivering another delicious meal.

November's meeting!

We were treated to a view of the past by Kelly Hill, Historical Costumer and Craft Coordinator at Kings Landing. Kelly brought us 5 quilts and several blocks to view and gave a short history of each. She explained that these quilts are kept in a dark climate controlled room, on tubes of acid free paper. Her presentation was followed by our monthly Show & Tell.

The five quilts from King's Landing

Our presenter, Kelly Hill, giving us an overview of each quilt. She brought these particular quilts as they reflected a record of what people wore.

This quilt has been dated about 1930 and came from Upper Gagetown

Circa 1890

Log Cabin - circa 1890 It is brighter than the previous quilt and has little to no batting.

Snowball and 9 patch - circa 1870-1920. It was made from a mix of fabrics including upholstery fabric

9 Patch - circa 1910-20. Some blocks within the 9 patch are sewn of different pieces of the same fabric.

Mrs. Allen of Pokiok - circa 1830-40. The dyes of the time have eaten trough some of the fabrics

Kathy brought us her happy Halloween runner. Love the colours.

Kathy also brought us her eye catching Halloween lap quilt of pumpkins and crows. Quilted by Janet S.

Doris K. brought us an antique quilt made by her husband's grandmother and explained it's 66 years old and well loved.

Allison H.'s Remembrance Day wall hanging is for her father's apt. door.

Allison also shared a quilt top made by her mother 35 years ago. The quilting was started by her mother, continued by Allison and completed by a local church group.

Myrna M brought us her blue log cabin quilt. This gorgeous quilt was quilted by the Burtts Corner group.

Peggy L. shared this beautiful appliqued flowers quilt. It was inspired by and quilted by Dorothy J.

Thursday 5 October 2023

Wow, what a show we had last night! Not only did our talented members strut their stuff with their latest finishes -- we had a program and a half with our fellow member Christine B. We all know how creative and artistic Christine is but she just blew us out of the water. Her previous show of quilts was stunning and she followed up last night with all the non-quilt items she creates. What a wonderful show!

I didn't get quite all the pieces Christine brought with her (had a few pics that didn't turn out) but here they are - I didn't label each one.

They are followed by our October Show and Tell

And now for our Show & Tell for October

This beauty is Cecile G.'s "Bears in the Cabin" which is hand quilted.

This very Halloween wall hanging is "Witchipoo" and was completed by Doris K.

Another Halloween wall hanging in progress - this one by Lyn F. This is a freebee from the Fat Quarter Shop

Lyn F. created this one too - a very large quilt that's very retro in feeling. Quilted by Gwenda Quilts

A Stack n Whack completion - this one by Bertha M. It will be a gift to her first great granddaughter.

Linda B. loves stars and has made two quilts full of them for us tonight. The first included many thinner stripes and Linda's second star quilt had 2 1/2" wide stripes.

Peggy H. and Beryl S. got together for a bowl making session and their creativity took off.

Beryl's first lesson in bowl making has certainly paid off

Peggy's bowl complete with decorative touches

Peggy's bread basket in progress

Another creative project from Joyce N. Joyce took a damask tablecloth and turned it into this beautiful quilt. Note the quilted castle in the middle.
